Deconstructed Landscape Painting (Coal)

Oil on Canvas, Charcoal, Length: 80cm, Width: 60cm

The Series of Deconstructed Landscape Paintings tries to challenge the romanticised image of the unspoiled, pure and harmonic nature, especially in times of the climate crisis. The painting is from the last century and used to hang in the living rooms of 1950ies single family homes. By cutting it in a mathematical way and contrasting it with another material that tells us about the transformation of the last 70 years, the old painting gets an appropriate afterlife.
